Just wanted to drop a quick note for anyone else with an older F15 X5 who’s staring down that brake service warning and dreading the call to the dealership because I was in that exact spot about two weeks ago and a buddy convinced me to try an independent shop that he’s been using for his 5 Series and I’m genuinely annoyed at myself for not doing this years ago because I paid about forty percent of what the dealer wanted and the car stops better than it has in ages and there’s no dust all over my front wheels after three days like there used to be with the OEM pads. The shop actually took the time to show me the old rotors which were lipped pretty badly and the pads were down to basically nothing on the inner side even though the outer pad still had some life left which is apparently a common thing with these sliding calipers and I never would have known because I don’t exactly crawl under the car with a flashlight every weekend and the dealer just looks at the outer pad through the wheel and calls it a day. I found them through a page at https://brakepadreplacementdubai.ae/brands/bmw-brake-pad-replacement/ when I was doom scrolling at 2am trying to figure out if I should go with Textar or Jurid or just bite the bullet and get the BMW branded ones and the information there actually helped me understand that Textar makes the OEM pads anyway so I was basically paying extra for a BMW logo on the box and a service advisor with a nice watch. Car’s been braking smooth as butter for two weeks now no squeaks no judder and my wallet is still intact enough that I can actually afford to fill the tank on this thirsty thing for another month and that’s a win in my book right.
