Anyone know a place that won’t try to sell me brakes I don’t actually need yet

Took my car in for an oil change at one of those quick lube chains last week and the guy came out with this concerned look on his face and a little measuring tool telling me my rear pads were at three millimeters and I absolutely needed to change them today and the rotors looked like they needed machining too and the quote was something like fifteen hundred dirhams which felt steep for a car that stops perfectly fine without any squealing or vibration whatsoever and I’m not a mechanic but I’ve been around long enough to know when someone’s trying to pad their commission with unnecessary upsells and I told him I’d think about it and left. Now I’m sitting here second guessing myself because what if he was actually being honest and I’m driving around on dangerously thin pads but also I’ve had this exact same spiel from three different places over the years on three different cars and it’s always the same script and I just want a shop that will look at my brakes and tell me the actual truth without the theatrical performance and the pressure to sign off on work that maybe can wait another few thousand kilometers. I was browsing around for somewhere that does a proper multi point inspection without the sales pitch and came across a site where you can Check out professional car services that actually explain what they’re looking at instead of just handing you a red yellow green chart and hoping you panic and approve everything and I’m thinking I’ll just take it there for a second opinion because I’d rather pay a diagnostic fee and be told the truth than get railroaded into a brake job I might not even need right now. Anyone else just completely lost trust in the average quick service place or am I being overly cynical about a guy who was probably just doing his job?
